Mounting and dismounting
Skill and cleanliness when mounting are necessary if spherical plain bearings and rod ends are to perform correctly and not fail prematurely.
The bearings and rod ends should only be taken from their packages immediately before mounting so that they do not become contaminated. The sliding contact surfaces of the bearings are matched to provide favorable friction and wear characteristics. Any alteration of the sliding surfaces would shorten the service life so that the bearings must not be washed or come into contact with solvents, cleaners, oils or similar media. Any components which have possibly become dirty as a result of improper handling (damaged packaging etc.) should be wiped using a clean cloth.
The components associated with the bearing (housings, shafts etc.) should be cleaned and any burrs removed. They should also be checked with regard to accuracy of dimensions and form before mounting is started.
The recommendations in the following apply both to mounting and dismounting spherical plain bearings as well as rod ends.
Lubrication and maintenance
For spherical plain bearings requiring maintenance which are of the steel-on-steel type, the purpose of the lubrication is primarily to reduce wear, reduce friction and prevent scuffing. Also the grease serves to protect the bearings against corrosion.
During the first period of operation of steel/sinter bronze composite and steel/PTFE fabric bearings, there is a transfer of PTFE from the composite or fabric to the opposing steel surface of the inner ring. Any lubrication of the sliding contact surfaces would disturb this transfer and shorten bearing life. Therefore, lubrication of these bearings is not advisable and they have no relubrication facilities.
When greasing the bearing during mounting or before it is taken into operation, it is recommended where possible to fill the space surrounding the bearing with grease as well as the bearing itself. The frequency of relubrication of the bearing during its operation influences the length of the service life. The grease operating temperature range is –20 to +150 °C.
The History of HYJG self-lubricating bearing introduction
The first set domestic large self-lubricating plain bearing is produced by our company. It was provided to Wu Gang from 1998 to now. At that time Wu Gang planed to choose SKF bearing. Two sorts:GE320F and GE380FSA. As a result the time of supply is too late. Finally they decided to choose and use our products instead. Through effort of all staff, we designed and produced domestic the first batch self-lubricating joint bearing and through VAI’ affirmance.

HYJG Spherical plain bearings are produced as standard with Normal radial internal clearance. The availability of bearings with C2 (smaller than Normal) or C3 (larger than Normal) radial internal clearance should be checked before ordering.
